Artist Anna Gil
I consider my work a visual prayer, an imagery-filled journey in the vibrant realities of the soul.
I begin my work by concentrating on a text from the Hebrew Bible, often a Psalm. This period of introspection is often accompanied with music.
My media is oil paint. By using lines, patterns, sharp edges and large fields of color, my work is expressed as Hebrew words and letters.
My art is influenced by Kabbalah Mystical tradition and the many layers of meaning in each Hebrew letter inspired by the act of Creation and expressed in the observance of the day of rest.
The joy of expression and deep connection I maintain while I work is given to G-d. Inspired by my deep faith, I am transported on my own artistic journey.
